The Matrix has always been one of my favourite film series — not only for its groundbreaking effects and compelling storyline, but also for the subculture and iconic fashion it helped define. Another aspect I truly appreciate is its portrayal of female strength, presented naturally and without feeling forced. Three of my favourite characters are Persephone, Trinity, and Niobe — each powerful in her own way.
For the first outfit, I was inspired by Persephone, the Merovingian’s wife. Her style is absolutely breathtaking, showing how elegant materials like vinyl and latex can be. She embodies femininity with quiet strength — never overly aggressive, yet undeniably powerful. Despite her husband’s infidelity, she moves with independence and control, using her position as a program to influence events and subtly aid the protagonists.
For the second outfit, I took inspiration from Trinity, one of the central characters. She is not only a skilled hacker, but also a pilot and a key member of the Nebuchadnezzar crew. As Neo’s partner, she reveals a softer emotional side through her love for him, while still remaining strong, intelligent, and fearless. Her signature black leather and vinyl aesthetic is both sleek and timeless.
For the third outfit, I was inspired by Niobe, a character introduced in the second and third films. While we don’t see as much of her story, she stands out as a highly respected pilot and a former love interest of Morpheus. She plays an important role in supporting the fight to save Zion — humanity’s last refuge. What I admire most about Niobe is her strength, confidence, and ability to take decisive action when it matters most.
